American Modelica & FMI Conference 2026 · Workshop
Hands-On with Rumoca: From Modelica Source to Simulation and Multiple Algebraic Backends in VS Code
About the Workshop
This tutorial is a hands-on introduction to Rumoca, a Rust-native Modelica compiler that turns a single Modelica model into a universal algebraic frontend for downstream tools.
Working through a set of pre-vetted example models, attendees will use the Rumoca VS Code extension to edit a model, run it, and view the simulation directly in the editor, with live diagnostics and an editable 3D view of the running model. From the same source, participants will then generate exports across several backends, including CasADi, SymPy, JAX, and FMI. These artifacts will then be loaded in their own environment, for example a Jupyter notebook, to inspect them and demonstrate utility.
No prior Rumoca experience needed; basic Modelica familiarity is helpful, but not required.
